Canadian Gun Owners Fund Public Awareness Campaign Through Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights

Non-Profit Raises Awareness of Canada's Firearm Laws

OTTAWA, ON--(Marketwired - May 17, 2016) - For the first time in Canadian history, licensed firearm owners are taking their message directly to the Canadian public. The Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights (CCFR), a non-profit, member funded organization has sponsored a national public awareness campaign to provide accurate information regarding Canada's gun control system. "The campaign is designed simply to teach Canadians about the laws and regulations we currently have in Canada and the impact they may or may not have on public safety," said the organization's President Rod Giltaca.

The CCFR began operations in November 2015 and took on a unique mandate different from any other group before it: a sophisticated public relations focus intended to provide educational resources to the non-gun owning public to support a wider understanding of this issue. "Many Canadians will express an opinion on gun control without even knowing what the current laws are," said Chairwoman Tracey Wilson. "The CCFR exists to change that."

The organization produced two public service announcements, a YouTube channel and the resource website www.gundebate.ca. The PSA's have been seen over 100,000 times in the past week on YouTube Instream Video Ads, Instagram and Facebook. "Our goal is to have every Canadian who is interested in debating gun control issues actually know the regulations they're arguing about. We have allocated the largest advertising budget ever committed on this topic and this is the first of two campaigns this year," said Mr. Giltaca.
