CCFR sponsors Mary Patrick, young female athlete "Shooting for Gold"

Mary Patrick, a young female shooter from Cornwall, Ontario has her sights set on the Olympics, and she's well on her way. Patrick recently signed on to be a member of 2 National Teams to represent Canada; Canada High performance Junior Team and National Rifle Team. The award winning athlete was recently named Ottawa's top shooter for 2016 by Ottawa Sports Awards.

The 2016 Ontario Summer Games were a success for Mary, with the 17 year old sharpshooter winning two silver medals, one for individual score and another for team score.  Mary Patrick, who continues training and competing in competitions, hopes to participate in the Ontario Winter Games of 2018. She also hopes to represent Canada at the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan.

Being on the Canadian High Performance National Junior Team means I can travel to different countries to compete for Canada at Continental Championships and World Cups. Since this is the Olympic year and next year will be fairly quiet in terms of international competitions, it means there will be few opportunities. On the other hand, this is a good way to ease me into the international stage. It also means I am able to work with my teammates at High Performance Training weekends with our team coach,”  ~ Mary Patrick.

You can follow Mary Patrick, who won  The Seeker Choice Award for Athlete of the Year, and her journey entitled “Shooting for Gold” on Facebook. For those interested in supporting Mary’s journey, there is more information on her website.

The CCFR is proud to support this exciting young athlete and her journey to the podium. Mary will be joining the CCFR team at the Toronto Sportsman Show on March 18 & 19 with her competition rifle and will be happy to sign autographs, pose for photos and speak to fans, young and old.
