Minister Blair admits an OIC will be used to ban guns

In a media scrum today, on the 30th anniversary of the Polytechnique shooting in Montreal, Minister of Public Safety & Emergency Preparedness Bill Blair admitted the Liberal government will use an OIC (Order in Council) to ban semi-auto hunting and sporting rifles. A list has not been provided as he worries about another #BillSentMe buying frenzy campaign.

What this means is he would circumvent any debate, study by a committee, opposition and House vote. It is exercising the full power of the government and is usually reserved for other matters. A gun ban like this, by all accounts, should go through the regular legislative process and be given a full and thorough study.
