The situation in eastern Ontario and Western Quebec continues to reach critical levels. Areas around Ottawa, Rockland, Cumberland, Gatineau, Aylmer and up into the Pontiac region of Quebec are reeling from massive flooding. The Canadian Armed Forces has deployed 400 troops to help with the relief efforts and 100 homes and counting are under mandatory evacuation orders. Residents who are leaving their homes for the safety of high ground and shelters are asked to call city services at 613-446-1518 for help and resources.
Temporary shelters have been set up at the following locations:
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 377 on Allbirch Road
Francois Dupuis Rec Centre on Portobello Ave
Nepean Sportsplex on Woodroffe Ave
The CCFR is offering temporary safe storage to firearms owners in affected areas. Temporary shelters do not permit those seeking shelter to bring their firearms with them.
People are asked to call the office at 1-844-243-CCFR(2237) or e-mail info@firearmrights.ca to access a volunteer willing to help.
The main priority at this time needs to be the safety of you and your family. If you are hesitant to evacuate and leave behind your firearms, we can help.
