CONCERNS FOR FIREARMS OWNERS IN 2015 THRONE SPEECH

Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights; December 4, 2015
For Immediate Release

Ottawa, ON – Within hours of today’s Throne Speech, Canadian gun owners have been voicing concern over the mention of Liberal Party platform items related to gun control. The Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights has already reached out to the new government and offered our support in analyzing these upcoming proposals and their effect on public safety. We have been assured the Long Gun Registry will not be reintroduced but there is substantial additional consideration needed for the current platform’s effect on law abiding gun owners.

At this point, there is no way to tell how aggressively the Liberal majority will pursue this agenda or whether they will find more pressing issues to address in the coming months and years. As a very young organization, the CCFR will continue to stay focused on our development and our mandate to educate the Canadian public on this widely misunderstood topic and ensure that an open line of communication with the government persists.
