CCFR Celebrates Hunt/Fish/Trap Heritage Day

Hunting, Fishing and Trapping are an integral part of Canada's history and heritage. Bill C-501, An Act respecting a National hunting, fishing and trapping day was entered into law in 2015 via MP Rick Norlock's private members bill. The 3rd Saturday of September is a National Heritage day, paying respect to these ancient practices. This year it falls on September  16, 2017 and outdoor enthusiasts across the country are encouraged to participate.

We are asking our members, followers and volunteers to post photos of them hunting, fishing or trapping and use the hashtag #CanadaHunts to raise awareness of this parliamentary recognized event. If possible, wear camo for the day for a united image.

We know there are over 2 million licensed gun owners in Canada and a large portion, majority even, are hunters. Because hunting is traditionally more publicly accepted than sport shooting, hunters may not feel the same sense of urgency the rest of the community does when it comes to protecting our rights. We know the truth is, we all need to support and depend on each other.

The CCFR is now a National sponsor of "Canada Hunts" on Wild TV.

We are very excited that the contracts have been signed and the CCFR is achieving yet another first for Canadian gun owners. The 2.5 million subscribers of WILD TV will now be exposed to our innovative brand of advocacy via commercials, cameos and dialogue throughout the 2018 season....

This was a logical next step for the CCFR. Introducing the wide subscriber base of hunters to our political realities will encourage more dialogue and more activism. This activism is desperately needed to boost our communities visibility across this great nation. Gun owners have suffered from 30 years of bad branding and we need to redefine that branding now.

Here's what we are asking you to do:

  1. wear camo on September 16, 2017
  2. post hunting photos on social media using the hashtag #CanadaHunts
  3. support the CCFR's innovative projects
  4. become a CCFR member
  5. continue teaching the hunting heritage to your kids and grandkids
  6. let the Conservative Hunting & Angling Caucus know that you stand with them
