With the hearing at the Supreme Court of Canada right around the corner, and the previous official “end of the amnesty” date upon us, we wanted to take the opportunity to remind you that you can let this date come and go without worry, thanks to the challenges before the highest court in the land.
The CCFR has been relentless with every angle of this fight, in the media, the arena of public opinion and the courts – at every level. We never gave up, we never backed down and you stood side by side with us all the way.

October 30, 2026, was supposed to be the end of the amnesty period protecting licensed firearms owners from prosecution. The Public Safety Minister said they were not going to extend the amnesty again. Today was the day when push was going to come to shove. But it didn’t.
Back in March of this year, after news of the Supreme Court hearing our challenge to the gun grab, the government admitted they had to extend the amnesty – a move we were prepared to force with an injunction should it be required. The Liberal government extended the amnesty indefinitely until 90 days past the decision out of the Supreme Court.
So take this as your friendly reminder – that the amnesty continues and will continue on until some time in 2027 when the court renders their decision.
We are so grateful for all the support that has enabled us to grow into Canada’s largest gun lobby and battle these huge fights on your behalf. We promised you we wouldn’t quit and we meant it.
Historic times for all of us – thanks for being here.
Next, the Supreme Court of Canada November 9 & 10.
